Project Manager. Designer. Builder

Studying architecture & culture has fueled my passion for creative work and driven me towards a career in a field of the built environment. I started my journey in the design profession, spending six years studying architecture at Ball State University and the last nine years working professionally as a Project Manager and Model Builder.

Here are just a few projects from the past decade.

Temple Models

I have worked with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to create temple models for several visitor centers around the world. Members of the Church believe that Temples are a sacred space, so they have limited access to the public. These models open the interior spaces, removing the stigma of their secrecy while allowing the missionaries to explain the significance and ceremony of each room.

Exhibits

In this exhibit we worked with another company to create the physical model for a game that teaches children how the different governmental departments work for the public. The model consisted of three areas representing the rural, urban and suburban areas of our state. It was fun to create scenes of everyday life and model them off of my surroundings in Indianapolis.

Building Developments

The Proscenium is a development currently under construction in Carmel, IN.  The model was created to give prospective buyers a feel for the atmosphere of the new development. It also acts as a point of interest to get the surrounding community excited about the opportunities and experience available within the new development.

Campus Models

I have worked with both Purdue University and Indiana University to update their existing campus models. Both models needed updating to match the development and improvements that had been made to the campuses and the surrounding area. These models act as a way finding guide for new students and campus tour groups, giving viewers a three dimensional layout of the campus. The Purdue University model is an old school model started in the 1950’s, which required a handmade style to match the original craftsmanship. The Indiana University models were created in the early 2000’s, featuring a more monochromatic aesthetic.

Pallet Garage

In this architectural project I collaborated with the client to design and produce construction documents for a residential garage built entirely from wood shipping pallets. The client had been to other countries and seen how people use the materials at hand and often have shipping pallets. The goal was to create a government approved method of building with a generic material that is available to many people all over the world. The plans are now available online in hopes that they could help others in need.
